This newsletter includes highlights of recent developments, team activity, and training events for the American Theatre Archives Project, an initiative of the American Society for Theatre Research.

The ATAP Working Session proposal has been accepted for the 2014 ASTR-TLA Convention November 20-November 23 in Baltimore, MD.  The call for papers for the working session will be posted to the ATAP listserv later this month.

Team Activity

Austin:  The Austin ATAP team, facilitated by the Oscar G. Brockett Center for Theatre History at the University of Austin, continues developing projects with the Rude Mechanicals, Teatro Vivo, and the ZACH Theatre.  Oscar G. Brockett Center for Theatre History celebrated the opening of the Oscar G. Brockett archive.

Boston:  ATAP Boston held their monthly meeting and discussed recruitment ideas.

Florida:  ATAP Florida continues its collaboration with Jobsite Theater, welcoming a new team member, Audry Collins-Buchanan, and consulting on archival practices with Andy Huse, University Librarian and Archivist.

Illinois:  Team member April Anderson recently blogged about the ISU and ISF archival project: http://my.ilstu.edu/blogs/aander2/2014/03/17/what-were-working-on-illinois-shakespeare-festival-isu-school-of-theatre-and-dance/.

New York City:  The ATAP process advances with the Castillo Theatre and the HERE Arts Center.  April events include a session with A.R.T./New York (April 18) and a second weekend seminar for theatres that have completed an ATAP project scheduled April 27.

North Carolina:  Denise Anthony, archives faculty at UNC’s School of Information and Library Science, is putting together a course on “Community Archiving” for the fall semester.

Northwest:  The Seattle Area Archives winter meeting included a presentation on ATAP by Helice Koffler.  Two- hour team training sessions are tentatively scheduled April 29 and May 1.

Philadelphia: The ATAP Philadelphia team will hold its second formal meeting on Saturday, April 12. Participants will discuss increasing membership, defining member roles, creating a shared list of contacts at local theatre organizations, and devising a list of interview questions for select local artists that will inform a customized outreach strategy for the ATAP Initiation Program. Pittsburgh:  Team building continues with outreach to the University of Pittsburgh MLIS program, Department of Theatre Studies, and the Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council.
